By darkening specific parts of the calendar's image, relationships and patterns of design become more evident. Meanings appear to be suggested simply through observing the basis of the design elements.

We may never know the complete and precise meaning of each and every element designed into the Aztec Calendar, but by searching for distinctive relationships in this manner, we may approach a more suggestive apprehension of its design.

The Aztec Calendar's design has not been altered in any way within these illustrations. We have simply darkened some of its spaces and elements. This analytical visualization allows for electing specific relationships to be viewd from a perspective that has not been considered until now.
